Outside the Wire
Outside The Wire is an anthology of first person narrative writing about the war in Afghanistan. Most of the contributors are Canadian soldiers who have been in Afghanistan during the last five years, but rounding out the collection are pieces by journalists, aid workers, and doctors. The emphasis is on the personal and the specific - it does not include any polemical writing. The anthology does not attempt to argue for the justifiability of Canada's mission in Afghanistan, but concentrates instead on searching for the truth of it, in the eyes and words of those who have lived it.
