Lieutenant-Colonel Ian Hope
Ian Hope joined the Canadian Forces in 1980 and has served in the West Nova Scotia Regiment, the Canadian Airborne Regiment and the Parachute Regiment (U.K.), and with his parent regiment, Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry. He has an honours degree in history and a master’s degree in military art and science, and is currently working on his doctoral thesis in history through Queen’s University. Lieutenant-Colonel Hope has deployed to Afghanistan a number of times, most recently from January 2006 to August 2006. As the commanding officer of Task Force Orion, he fought numerous battles against Taliban forces, and, on occasion, assumed tactical control of American and British forces.
