Captain Nichola Goddard

Nichola Goddard was born on May 2, 1980, in Papua New Guinea, and raised in Canada. She was a member of the Royal Canadian Horse Artillery, based in Shilo, Manitoba. She served in Afghanistan with the First Battalion, Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry, from January 2006 to May 17, 2006, when she was killed during a firefight in the Panjwayi district. Included in the anthology are four of the letters that Nichola Goddard emailed from Afghanistan up until two weeks before her death. They have been reprinted with the permission of her parents, Tim and Sally Goddard, and her husband, Jason Beam.
